Vice President, Commercial Insurance/Employee Benefits Division Account Executive
Brian Knerr is Vice President and Branch Manager of the Tampa office of Harden. In addition, he serves as an Account Executive in both the Commercial Insurance and Employee Benefits Divisions of the company, which is one of the Southeast’s leading insurance, risk management, and employee benefits firms. In his role, Brian is responsible for branch profitability, defining and assuring execution of client support plans, communicating proactively with clients, and providing access to underwriting facilities.
Brian joined Harden in January of 2003 as an Account Executive, to lay the foundation for the Harden branch office in Tampa, Florida. Prior to joining Harden, Brian was Vice President of Risk Management and Employee Benefits for MPS Group, Inc., a Jacksonville-based Fortune 1000 company specializing in human capital management solutions. With MPS Group, Inc., he was responsible for a $15 million, multi-state workers’ compensation program, professional liability risk for information technology and health care projects, a $12 million group medical plan, and a $125 million 401(k) program.
With 25 years’ experience in risk management and employee benefits, Brian’s knowledgebase includes risk identification and analysis, risk financing, and claims support. Working in conjunction with legal and vendor resources, he assisted in the design and implementation of comprehensive safety programs as part of his risk management function. He has also developed and implemented employee benefit plans such as Executive Deferred Compensation Plans and Employee Stock Purchase Plans.
Brian earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 1983. He served as President of the Maryland chapter of the National Association of Temporary Services in 1991, and President of the North Florida chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society in 1999. Brian also chaired the 1999 Florida RIMS Chapter’s Joint Educational Conference.
In 1994, Brian received the Cristy Award, presented by the Risk and Insurance Management Society to the individual with the highest average grade in the three exams leading to the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation. That same year, he was also the recipient of an Award for Academic Excellence given by the Insurance Institute of America. In 2006, Brian earned the Registered Professional Liability Underwriter designation from the Professional Liability Underwriting Society. In 2009, Brian received the Group Benefits Associate designation from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.
