6.1.2017 : Harden Announces James “Jimmy” Clark Begins Tenure as the 2017-2018 Chairman of the University of Tampa Board of Fellows
Harden, a proven leader in risk management, insurance, and employee benefit services, announced today that James “Jimmy” Clark officially begins his tenure as the new 2017-2018 Chairman of the University of Tampa Board of Fellows. Clark’s tenure as Chair will run from June 1, 2017 to May 31, 2018.
Clark has served as a University of Tampa Fellow since 2011 and on the Board’s Steering Committee for the last three years. For the last two years, he chaired the Fellows Forum Sponsorship Committee, raising more than $200,000 for the Fellows Scholarship Endowment Fund. Clark’s appointment as Chairman comes with the support and endorsement from the 2016-2017 Board of Fellows Steering Committee, along with the University of Tampa’s Office of Development and Office of the President.
Outgoing Chairman Brian Smith says, “Most who have met Jimmy recognize him by his ambitious persistence coupled with his humble passion, leadership, and support for The University of Tampa, the Board of Fellows, and the Tampa Bay community. I am confident that Jimmy will continue to build on the organization’s momentum and contribution to the University of Tampa’s community and students.”
When asked about his upcoming duties as the new Chairman, Clark is most passionate about connecting students with the Tampa community. “I want to push the organization to grow and continue to serve its mission, which is to serve as goodwill ambassadors of the community. The Board of Fellows allows the business community to connect with the students at the university, which is what makes this organization truly unique,” said Clark.
Outside of his service to the University of Tampa, Clark has served as a past president of Rotary Club of Tampa, a founder of the Society of Real Estate Professionals, and on the Advisory Board for University of Florida’s Bergstrom Real Estate Center. He also spent five years on the Board of A Brighter Community, Leadership Jacksonville, Emerging Leaders of Tampa Bay, Junior Achievement, and Habitat for Humanity.
Professionally, Clark is a Vice President and Commercial Insurance Account Director at Harden. In this role, Clark is responsible for originating and retaining client relationships, defining and articulating client objectives, and leading efforts to provide the best solutions for clients. He also has an additional responsibility of managing the business development of Harden’s Tampa office and leads the Real Estate Practice Group.
